Fibro Chicks
Fibromelanism refers to birds who have hyperpigmentation resulting in black skin, beaks, feathers, and internal organs. They are absolutely majestic to look at. Dark and mysterious!
We purchased a striking Svart Hona rooster about 4 years ago and have been hatching and raising fibro hens to add to our flocks. Our chicks and grow-outs have been simply stunning, rapidly becoming a homestead favorite. We have a son of our Svart Hona rooster (Copper Marans hen) who looks like a Fibro Copper Marans, and he is quite possibly the best looking bird we have!
These chicks are crosses between a fully fibromelanistic bird and other breeds on our homestead. Chicks will have various expressions of fibromelanism and be predominantly black and occasionally blue in plumage. Chicks may or may not have feathered shanks, beards or muffs. Their adults can lay a multitude of colors from blue to olive to peach to pink, as well as speckled and heavy bloomed eggs. Don't sleep on these beauties, they are an outstanding addition to any backyard flock.
Chicks are sold straight run, unsexed.
Shipping
Chicks are packaged in USPS approved shipping boxes, and sent USPS Express one to two day mail. The shiping is a flat rate for 6-25 chicks. We have a 6 chick minimum during the Spring and Summer to make sure the group stays warm enough during transit (10 chick minimum from October 1 to April 15th).
