Silverudd's Blue Chicks
Silverudd's Blue Chicks are an outstanding addition to any flock.
Silverudd's Blues are a medium bodied bird, originated in Sweden and developed by Martin Silverudd. They were previously referred to as Isbars or Blue Isbars until 2016 at which time they were renamed to honor the breed developer.
We have been keeping Silverudd's for over 10 years now with the vast majority of our flocks beginning from Greenfire Farms 1st and 2nd imports. Several years ago we added a few birds from Wabi Sabi acres and before that, additions from a former bredder, Heather at "The Old Farmhouse" in Crossroads, TX.
Silverudd's Blues come in splash, blue, and black in plumage color. Our personal preference is for splash birds, and this is reflected in our flock composition. However, we do have all colors present and do hatch all plumage colors.
We gentically tested every bird, roosters and hens, in our Silverudd flocks and all birds are homozygous for the blue egg gene. The ensures that you run no risk of breeing two heterozygus birds together and running the possibility of producing offspring that lays a tan egg.
Chicks are sold straight run, unsexed.
Shipping
Chicks are packaged in USPS approved shipping boxes, and sent USPS Express one to two day mail. The shiping is a flat rate for 6-25 chicks. We have a 6 chick minimum during the Spring and Summer to make sure the group stays warm enough during transit (10 chick minimum from October 1 to April 15th).
