  • Speckled Chicks

Everyone loves speckled eggs, and we are no exception! Speckled Olive Egger, Chocolate Egger (Marans mixes), and Fibro eggs never cease to amaze us, and we know everyone else feels the same way. Speckles are caused when the egg moves slowly through the hen's oviduct before being laid, from uneven pigment distribution. Regardless of the "why" of speckled eggs, they are a perennial favorite of people everywhere. I often think of speckled eggs like snowflakes, no two are exactly alike.

Speckled chicks will vary in plumage with the standard blue, black, and splash as well as being possibly fibromelanistic. They may or may not have feathered shanks, beards, or muffs. As such, they will blend righ in with your heavy bloom or olive egger chicks, but you will know when you start opening your nesting boxes and seeing those speckled beauties waiting for you!

Chicks are sold straight run. unsexed.

    • Shipping

Chicks are packaged in USPS approved shipping boxes, and sent USPS Express one to two day mail.  The shiping is a flat rate for 6-25 chicks.  We have a 6 chick minimum during the Spring and Summer to make sure the group stays warm enough during transit (10 chick minimum from October 1 to April 15th).

**PLEASE NOTE**  Starting in 2025 USPS has added a $15 surcharge for all priority boxes (Eggs), and $7.50 for all Priority Express boxes (Chicks) for live a perishable goods.  We have had to adjusted our shipping charges to cover this additional expense.
